About Headway Therapy
*Online Therapy in California Currently Provided*
If you have landed on this page on our website, it is probably safe to assume that you are actively seeking a therapist. You have, most likely, been searching the internet. You’ve scrolled through several different therapist profiles and practices. You have noticed just how many of us there are. Having an abundance of choices is great…except that it can also be overwhelming. Trying to find a therapist that really understands your struggle. On top of that, has the right experience. And, with whom you feel comfortable being vulnerable. How do you decide who is going to be the best fit for you?
Well, you start by getting a feel for the practice and the therapist by looking through their website and seeing if you resonate or connect with something that has been mentioned. Hopefully, it will feel like you have landed in the right place with this website!
What makes Headway Therapy different from other therapist practices
Headway Therapy is an intentionally boutique-style practice. This means that I am selective with whom I work. The purpose of which is to ensure that my work with you is both meaningful, satisfying and remains focused on your needs and treatment goals. Why do we do this? Well, because not every therapist will be a great fit for every client. At first, that might sound counterintuitive. We’re therapists, we should be good with everyone, right? However, that’s not the case. I have specialty training in working with adult women, moms, folks beginning to grow their families, and trauma. So, I like to stay in my lane and do what I’m trained in. This means our work together is special. You will never just be “another client” in a “burgeoning caseload”.
Taking the time to get to know your story.
Sure, your past and present context is taken nto account when we work together. But, there is also recognition that you may have other providers supporting you. These providers are valuable consultants. This allows us to provide both continuity of care, as well as helping you feel completely supported. This is helpful when a treatment team approach can be particularly valuable.
When you become a client with a therapist at Headway Therapy, it will be different than any other counseling experience. You will experience an opportunity to develop a meaningful, insight-driven, professional relationship. A core value here, is the understanding that therapy is intended to be a professional yet deep and meaningful relationship. It provides a space in which you are able to voice your thoughts and feelings as they arise in the context of therapy, and allows you the space to process and explore how this develops in your interpersonal life. This allows you the opportunity to gain insights into yourself and make meaningful changes. All while feeling supported.

Therapy Services at Headway Therapy Group
Oftentimes, people begin therapy because they have noticed that they may be struggling with various symptoms that they simply cannot shake off. Typically, these may fall into the category of mood or anxiety symptoms. And, are disruptive enough that they are interfering with your daily life. It could be a general feeling of disinterest permeating your days. It could be an intense heaviness preventing you from getting out of bed. Or, worrying about details of your activities to full-blown panic attacks. When you notice that these symptoms are unshakeable and disruptive, then therapy can help.
Working with perinatal women
At Headway Therapy, I have a specialized interest in working with perinatal adults. The parents who have embarked upon the journey of growing their families. We offer support and counseling for the perinatal process. For some, this is a smooth journey navigating the expected bumps along the way. Or, an arduous ordeal dealing with unexpected losses, infertility, and changing dynamics with your partner.
Online therapy
Online therapy in California has become an integral part of my practice. Significantly, online therapy allows clients and therapists to connect conveniently and privately throughout the state of California. In addition, online therapy offers many unique benefits that traditional therapy lacks. For many people, online therapy is much more convenient. No longer do you have to battle traffic or arrange childcare. Instead, start your online therapy session anywhere you have a stable connection and privacy!
Approaches to Therapy
Headway Therapy is an integrative and holistic practice. Continuing education is a priority. Not simply to fulfill licensing requirements. But, because I’m passionate about learning more about mental health and well-being in order to best support you. We can draw upon varied approaches to find what works best. A few of these include:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
- Interpersonal Therapies
- Psychodynamic Therapy
- Gottman
- Eye Movement Desensitization Therapy (EMDR)
Headway is a holistic therapy group in our understanding of our clients
This means that we consider you as a whole person. Functioning as a result of both what has shaped you in the past, as well as what might be happening in your life currently. Further, we also recognize that your physical well-being plays a part in your emotional well-being. When appropriate, we work with you to understand how this connection between physical and emotional is impacting you.
